Author Takeover News: Swagalicious Fun!

Goodness! I am so excited and humbled by the number of readers who turned out and participated in my two recent author takeovers! So what’s a takeover? It’s a social media event where authors literally take over another writer’s or group’s page on Facebook to engage with readers. We play games, share laughs, and hold contests to get to know each other and share bookish fun.

Author Krys Fenner was kind enough to hand me the reigns of her page to celebrate the cover reveal for her new book, Awakened.

The Reanimated Writers Zombie Fiction Fan Group likewise allowed me to host a takeover on their page.

Both events were incredibly fun. Dozens and dozens of readers and fellow authors showed up, and we played games, had contests and giveaways, worked puzzles, and had a lot of positive zombie-themed fun. By the way, if you’re interested in these kinds of activities and want to find your next dystopian zombie read, the Reanimated Writers group is THE place to be on Facebook. You won’t find a more fun group of people. Plus, you’ll have many chances to win books, swag, and participate in other free events and contests. You won’t find anything else like it on FB. Guaranteed. Multiple authors participate, and you’ll have a steady diet of Zlit to feed your need.

Everyone walked away with a free ebook copy of Viral Dawn just for participating.

Many also received free downloads of my audiobook collaboration with author Karen Vaughan, Dead on Arrival. Catch a great preview sample of this recording on my YouTube channel.

The takeover was a phenomenal success! Viral Dawn zoomed into the top 20 on Amazon during the giveaway, and I appreciate everyone’s downloads sooooo much!

At any rate, I’d like to give a shout out to all the participants and let you know your winnings have been carefully packaged by me and my hubby. All were inspected and approved for shipping by Phantom Rankin, and they’re going out in today’s mail!

It was fun signing my very first autographed books to send to winners.

And the swag….it was such fun designing the keepsakes, and thanks to the fine folks and Ink and Shrink Swag, I think the readers will be pleased.

I also shared my exclusive fun activity, Viral Dawn: The Card Game. It’s a game based on a scene in my book where the characters made up a game to pass the time. I decided it would be fun to create a real-life version of it to share with readers. Get your own copy of the instructions to play at home on your own standard card deck:

I’d like to thank everyone for participating and also give a virtual thank you to Amber Hall, who graciously agreed to help with the event. You rock, Amber!
